When I first read the tagline of Jennifer Squires Productions Contemporary Photography, I thought it said “Fresh Photography for Hip Homies”. When I figured out that the last word was actually “Homes”, the theme of stark beautiful images made a lot more sense. But now is the perfect time to buy up some of the photos for your homies since Jennifer is running an Earth Week Sale of Buy One 8″ x 10″ and get one free. Act fast because the offer is only good through April 25th. Because of the sale, I’m only listing that size of photo here but if there’s another size you’d like, find out about pricing here.

Each photograph is printed by a professional lab on archive quality paper. They arrive signed on the front (the watermark that shows up on the images below isn’t really on it) and packed between two cardboard stiffeners so that they won’t bend in the mail.

Garlic, 8″ x 10″ for $45.00

I have lived in the same town in Florida since I was six years old and our area is not really known for being a hot spot for young people (well, unless you’re a beach person which most people who live here aren’t). But downtown Fort Myers had a coffee house/bar that I started going to infrequently as a teenager and obsessively in my early twenties. My friends and I were at Liquid Cafe so frequently that I talked to the bartender, Jackie, more than my actual family members. It was like a beacon in the night for all of the kind of artistic, off beat kids who felt uncomfortable at the techno clubs or preppy taverns in the area.

So of course it was closed down to convert into a fancy restaurant. But the conversion never happened and the location still stands empty, its curtains wide open so that you can still see the distinctive bar and seating- like it is waiting for everyone to come back. It is really fucking depressing- like having to walk by the corpse of one of your former friends.

That was the long winded way of saying this following photo makes me a little nostalgic:

Closed 3, 8″ x 10″ for $45.00

February Blues 3, 10″ x 8″ for $45.00

Calla 2, 8″ x 10″ for $45.00

Purple Flower, 8″ x 10″ $45.00
