Indie Retailer of the Day: Absinthe Mixed Bag

20 June 2008 No Comment

I’m weighing the pros of cons of buying a bottle of absinthe this weekend. On the pro side are the fact that I’ve always wanted to try it, its fairly recent legality in the United States and that a drink involving the use of a slotted spoon and sugar cube appeals to me for some reason. On the con side is that it is $60 a bottle minimum. Decisions, decisions.

In the meantime, here are some absinthe inspired products.

This mild, vegan soap contains the essential oils of anise and lemongrass, fennel seed, lemongrass and fennel.

This painting reproduction of Charles Baudelaire drinking Jules Pernod absinthe (with the mythical Green Fairy) is decoupaged onto the lid of a cigar box. It also includes a replication of Baudelaire’s signature.

This perfume oil features the scents of anise, mint, lime, sugar cubes, tobacco and smoke. Basically, you’ll smell like a bar in Paris circa the 1850s.

This next art piece is a digital collage sheet that is emailed to you after purchase. You can then print it out on the material of your choice.

Last but not least: absinthe pastille lozenges that were imported from Italy. The lozenges are made of an absinthe tincture, anise essential oil and herbal extracts.
