Sarah Palin never banned any books from her local library. But she did look into the matter- with the backing of her church- and fired a librarian that was shocked Palin would ask about such a thing (the librarian was rehired after a public outcry). There’s an implication that if there hadn’t been an outcry over the firing, some books might have slipped off the shelves and into a bonfire.

There really isn’t anything that can be said about September 11, 2001 that hasn’t been said a hundred times before. I’ll simply post a video that I found at What About Our Daughters. Its the full (over hour long) documentary “The Falling Man”. Its focus is to identify the man falling from one of the towers in one of the most remembered photos from the event.

The first beam of protons made it completely around the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) yesterday. The LHC is the most powerful particle accelerator in the world and is located in the CERN lab near Geneva. The accelerator has been an international collaborative project with our Department of Energy and the National Science Foundation investing $531 million. It has taken over fifteen years and ten thousand people to build the accelerator and its particle detectors.

To use two of Brandy’s adjectives from yesterday, I wanted to share the “whimsical, vintage” designs of EnfinLaVoila. The designer, Marijke Janssens, is absolutely lovely and ships promptly from just outside of Brussels.
