I was down with the flu last night so I’m doing a Saturday morning version of Friday Night Fluff.

Repo! The Genetic Opera is a post-apocalyptic rock opera that’s coming to theaters in limited release on November 7th. The setting is a world in which organ failures have become such an epidemic that a biotech company, GeneCo, is able to become a multi-billion dollar enterprise. There’s a catch to the transplants arranged by GeneCo. If the recipient is unable to keep up the payments on their new body part(s), it will be repossessed by a Repo Man.

The main character is Shiloh (Spy Kids’ Alexa Vega), a 17 year old girl with a rare blood condition. Shiloh is kept sequestered from the world by her father, Nathan (Buffy’s Anthony Head)- a Repo Man who is facing the job of repossessing some parts from his child’s godmother, Blind Mag (Broadway’s Sarah Brightman). Running parallel to this story is a plot involving the family that owns GeneCo. The owner, Rotti (Paul Sorvino), is dying and not fond of the idea of giving ownership over to any of his three children- Luigi (The Devil’s Rejects’ Bill Moseley), Pavi (Nivek Ogre) and Amber Sweet (1 Night in Paris’ Paris Hilton). Once Shiloh escapes her “prison” for the real world, Rotti takes notice and begins considering her as his successor.

I planned to see this movie before I even knew what it was about because Bill Moseley is in it and I support the career of Otis B. Driftwood. Then I saw the video below and realized that I will eventually own this movie on DVD and know the words to all of the songs. I already know the words to “Zydrate Anatomy” (the song in the video).

The main vocalist in this clip is Terrance Zdunich, one of the writers of the original stage play version of Repo! who plays a drug dealing Grave Robber in the film. Also present are Shiloh (Alexa Vega) and Amber Sweet (Paris Hilton looking goth):
