This picture isn’t new (it was taken in mid-September) but it is new to me. I’m normally not an “awww, a little kid!” type of gal but…. awww, a little kid! With a euphoric look on his face! And Obama looking serene!

The crazy incompetence that is Sarah Palin accumulates so quickly that it is difficult to devote entire posts to every incident. Today, for example, come news stories that:

  1. John McCain is against the constitutional amendment against gay marriage, against a complete ban of abortion and supports embryonic stem cell research. Sarah Palin either does not know McCain’s stances on these issues or she’s lying to James Dobson. Palin’s Fundie Barbie so it is doubtful she’d risk angering the legions of Dobson intentionally.
  2. During the same Dobson interview, Palin says “God will do ‘the right thing for America’” on election day. With the McCain campaign testing the political waters to see whether the Rev. Wright story could take hold again, it is a good time to remind people of Palin’s questionable religious affiliations.
  3. Palin’s apparently the Eliza Doolittle of the Republican Party (only in this case, they made the accent thicker). The RNC has spent more than $150,000 since late August to clothe and accessorize the Palin family. Those Republicans that understand that such a story is going to play very badly in the current economic crisis are disgusted by the spending
  4. Those worried that the LHC will suck the universe into a black hole should rest easy. Palin positioned herself as a feminist at a rally in Nevada and claimed to be stronger on women’s issues than Obama. If that didn’t create a black hole, nothing will.

The designs of Hidden Louise at Hide N Seek Illustrations riff on a familiar theme, but they play the colours and shapes of fairy tales with a modern sensibility and a wry sense of the classics.  I’m pretty sure that the “lost girl” in the “terrible woods” is a trope rich for interpretation, and I’m intrigued by the views presented here.
