As you may have heard if you paid attention to a news source yesterday, it looks likely that President-Elect Obama is going to tap Eric Holder for the Attorney General position. Holder will be the first black A.G.. A graduate of Columbia University and Columbia Law School, Holder began his law career working for the Public Integrity Section of the Justice Department. The battle for the Senate seat in Alaska is finally over. Democratic candidate Mark Begich defeated Republican incumbent (and convicted felon) Ted Stevens, who has held the position since 1968. Begich’s lead widened yesterday after the count of absentee and questioned votes put him ahead by 3,724. There are about 2,500 overseas ballots- too few for Stevens to make up the difference. As of last night, Stevens had not yet conceded or called Begich to offer his congratulations. Stevens could request a recount but that seems unlikely considering a) he’d …
