NO CBO: The Democrats and Republicans have been arguing this week over the economic rescue package proposed by the Dems. The Reps have said that the package has few immediate benefits, using a new report from the Congressional Budget Office (CBO) as evidence. Steve Benen notes the glaring problem with the CBO report version being touted: it doesn’t exist. Seriously sloppy journalism on the part of the AP (and those who jumped on their bandwagon) played into this inaccuracy.

Obama delivered his first weekly video address as president this morning. The topic of discussion was the economy and, more specifically, the American Recovery and Reinvestment Plan.

Lafayette French Pastry, a popular Greenwich Village bakery, has been selling dark brown cookies with bright red eyes and over-sized nose and lips under the name “Drunken Negro Face”. Owner Ted Kefalinos can’t understand what all the protest is about, saying  the cookie is “not unflattering. I think it’s a fun face.” When a news crew arrived to interview him, the dimwitted owner said, “I called them Drunken Negro Heads. What’s the problem with that?”
