I have recently become obsessed with Cold War Kids, a band from Calilfornia that’s been around for a while and had occasional radio play. I’ve been trying to describe their sound to people, and I keep saying that they’re like the White Stripes, kinda, at least musically-the songs are rhythm, driven, without a strong melody, and often with discordant notes that mash with the dysfunctional, discordant world painted by the lyrics.

It is that time of year again, when a group of liberal bloggers (led by Skippy, Jon Swift and Blue Gal) open up their blogrolls to any who ask. The tradition stems back three years to a day when some high traffic bloggers decided they’d host a day of blogroll bloodshed and strip their list o’ links of what they considered filler. Skippy and Jon were good enough to reappropriate the title so that it now stands for bloggy solidarity.
