Indie Retailer of the Day: GingerDead

GingerDead and Friends is a darkly funny webcomic created by Calan Ree. The main characters-Gingerdead, his twin sister Vendetta and his skeletal girlfriend leNoir- star in strips that are a pinch gothic, a shake punk with a heaping side of haiku. You can find more GingerDead products at the CafePress store; the items I selected below are from the Etsy shop.

Light Reading: Were you just sitting there thinking to yourself “Self, I really want to know more about the Gaussian copula function?” Well, you are in luck, my friend, because Wired magazine has an article detailing that very formula. The article’s title- Recipe for Disaster: The Formula that Killed Wall Street- hints at what the formula is and why it is important.

George Will’s Deep Thoughts on Man-Hugging

George Will exists in the same journalistic sphere as Bill Kristol in that he gets to declare whatever he’d like to be true- even to the point of manufacturing evidence- with little fear of occupational retribution. Which is a fancy way of saying he works for the Washington Post. He also seems to live in a cave.

Obama’s speech before Congress was satisfactory but not spectacular. It was erudite and engaging, sprinkled with populist phrases and encouraging enough to keep the market from going into a free-fall. Variations of the word responsible were used a dozen times. A metaphorical finger was wagged at the banking industry. Health care, energy and education got top billing. But the speech came up lacking on specifics- perhaps by design.
