Quote of the Day

19 February 2009 2 Comments

RNC Chair Michael Steel on his plans for the party:

“We want to convey that the modern-day GOP looks like the conservative party that stands on principles,” Steele told the Washington Times. “But we want to apply them to urban-suburban hip-hop settings.”

It will be avant garde, technically,” he said of the new public relations team he’s signing on. “It will come to the table with things that will surprise everyone – off the hook.” He also added: “I don’t do ‘cutting-edge.’ That’s what Democrats are doing. We’re going beyond cutting-edge.”

This is going to be entertaining.

Beyond cutting-edge? That’s off into thin air where there’s nothing supporting you at all… Actually, it’s pretty appropriate.

Applying your principles to “urban-suburban hip-hop settings” is going to be difficult when one of your key principles is that the city is full Godless elites and only rural folk are “real Americans.”

Also, I assumed that the Republicans were already avant-garde. I’ve long held that the Republican party, the entire McCain presidential campaign and all of Gov. Palin’s interviews were some sort of bizarre performance art exposing the flaws within our own society.
