Tuesday Link Roundup
That’s Dr. to You: Sarah Jaffe takes apart an L.A. Times article about Dr. Jill Biden that was inaccurate, poorly written and laden with sexism and condescension. (h/t bastard.logic)
Gregg’s Republican Replacement Is…. Bonnie Newman, Gregg’s chief of staff (when he was in the House) and head of a 2004 “Republicans for Lynch” campaign supporting current Gov. Lynch.
Amanda Palmer Round 2: After battling with a record company that insanely thought her stomach to be not commercial enough to display in a video, singer/songwriter Amanda Palmer is now fighting against British television networks that won’t air the video for her song Oasis. The networks, lacking any deep cultural understanding or sense of satire, are accusing the video of glorifying rape and abortion.
Number 15: Electronic Village points out that today is the anniversary of the 15th amendment being ratified. If you don’t know what that amendment covers, head over there and educate yourself.
Justice for Jason: Rachel has a guest post at Womanist Musings that links to a support drive behind Jason Vassell, a black student at the University of Massachusetts that was accosted by two white male students that didn’t like the fact that he was hanging out with his two white female friends. The white male students chased Jason down and instigated a fight, during which Jason defended himself with a small knife. You can, unfortunately, guess who got charged with assault (hint: not the white dudes).
