The New York Times asked four economists- Paul Krugman, Simon Johnson, Brad DeLong and Mark Thoma- to state their opinion on the Geithner Plan. Krugman hates it, Johnson thinks it isn’t enough, DeLong says it is “better than nothing” and Thoma is uncertain. Probably not the best of signs.

I am working on a long version that includes the specifics but it is turning into a novella and I am thus trying to trim it down for everyone’s sanity. But the overall feeling the Plan has left me with is perplexity. Not at the details of the plan itself so much as the fact that the Obama Administration has decided this is the one big shot they want to take.
