(Spoiler alert for the first film of the reboot.)

The official trailer for Rob Zombie’s reboot sequel H2: Halloween 2 has finally come out.  I was somewhat torn in my opinion of the first film of the reboot; I loved the new material (Michael’s childhood) and the fact that Annie survived but thought that the middle part of the film- which imitated the original film heavily- needed some revisioning. I’m also ambivalent about H2. 

Oh, there’s no question I’ll see it. I’m a fan of Zombie’s films in general and consider The Devil’s Rejects to be one of the best shot horror films in existence. H2 will have to be different from the original, Jamie Lee Curtis starring sequel just to incorporate Annie’s survival and child Michael. Sheri Moon Zombie’s presence in the trailer makes me nervous because while I love her, Jason Voorhees has the “ghost of Mommy made me do it” murder spree market covered.  I also thought I spotted Daeg Faerch (young Michael) in the trailer but he was replaced mid-filming due to a growth spurt. But his replacement- Chase Wright Vanek- does look really similar so I may be mistaken. Or Zombie’s patching Daeg’s face onto another body. 

Part of me hopes that Annie (Danielle Harris) keeps surviving the films and the reboot series makes it to the inclusion of Jamie Lloyd . It would be a very meta Halloween. But that seems unlikely for a variety of reasons, lest of which is the fact that Jamie’s dad is introduced in Halloween II and there’s no Jimmy Lloyd in the character list.
