“Not Fair” is one of my favorite tracks off of Lily Allen’s newer album (It’s Not Me, It’s You) so I was excited that it was selected to be the next single. But I just watched the video for it and…meh. It is kind of a cute concept. Lily and her band are dressed up as if they’re appearing on country star Porter Wagoner’s television show, which ran throughout the 1960s and 70s. But Jenny Lews and the Watson Twins already did this concept two years ago in the “Rise Up With Fists!” video (though they were on the Hee Haw set). And the Lewis and Watson Co. did it better.

What’s Christmas without a little Brian Setzer? Why, it’d hardly be Christmas at all, and that’s the truly odd part about it. Back in the early 80’s, never in my wildest Stray-Cats-pompadour dreams did I think that Setzer would turn into a holiday icon. Yet here he is, in all his greaser glory:

My friends and I were drunkenly watching SNL (the only state we ever watch that in) the week that Kings of Leon were the musical guests. But we had missed when they announced the name of the band. Only being vaguely familiar with their music and having no idea what any of them looked like, the only clue was a “KoL” on the drums. We sat there trying to guess what that stood for until my neurons finally clicked “Kings of Leon” into place.
