Branch Handmade has clothing, pillowcases and towels screenprinted with fantastic, vintage stock photo inspired graphics. The pillowcases do not come with the pillows inside- which I actually consider a positive since it is harder to find cute cases than it is covered pillows.

Ahpeele has limited edition prints and handscreened clothing that have heavy hints of Japanese influence. Interesting without being garish, there are graphics of koi, subtle skulls and exotic flowers. They’re currently having a “For the Love of Spring” special. Buy two shirts and you’ll get a mystery T included for free.

My actual, paid “day” job is as a copy writer. I ghostwrite content for websites, blogs, ebooks, etc. During one of my jobs, I came across Nerdy Shirts’ Batman Costume Hoodie. Styled after the Batman who was more camp than emo, the hoodie includes a detachable cape, drop down mask and ears on the hood.

Happy Family hardly needs press from the likes of us after rubbing elbows with The Daily Show and NPR (yes, that NPR). But they had my attention at the microscope t shirt and kept it with pirates, vintage graphics and octopi. Unlike many shops on Etsy, all of their shirt styles are available in all sizes so you don’t have to wait for a listing in your size to pop up.

Not long ago, RNC Chairman Michael Steele let fly with the fairly unhinged contention that working for the government didn’t count as a “real job”. Well, turns out that Steele’s ridiculous attempt to redefine “employment” wasn’t simply an embarassing gaffe — it’s an actual conservative talking point. The Atlantic’s Megan McArdle, who is to political thought what outer space is to oxygen, got into it with economist Dean Baker the other day and tried this line of thought out on him. The results are amusing…

There are indie retailer trends that I’ve come across time and again in different formats. There are zombies, robots, pirates, steampunk and…mustaches. Here are five ways to channel your inner Tom Selleck.

Never Ender began its life as Never Ender Boutique and Gallery, a combination art gallery and indie clothing boutique in Reno, Nevada. After three years of brick and mortar success, Never Ender moved online where it retains its indie flavor by featuring up and coming designers of clothing, body products, jewelry and stationary.

Ex-Boyfriend has t shirts. Ex-Boyfriend has t-shirts that feature illustrations including robots, wounded candy, monkeys and logo spoofs. Robots, wounded candy, monkeys and logo spoofs are awesome. Therefore Ex-Boyfriend is awesome. The logic is flawless.

I’m really interested in imagery involving blueprints and architectural drawings lately, particularly when the plans are for something either impossible to build or mysterious in origin. There’s also something quite masculine about blueprints, which can make for a good gift if there’s someone macho in your life that’s difficult to buy for. The following tap into that imagery in different ways.

So after some time in Dublin staying with friends who’d just gotten engaged, I’ve spent a fair bit of time staring at all sorts of wedding accoutrements. One thing that I’ve decided is that the women in my eventual wedding party will wear are crazy feathers in their hair, because they just look so extravagant. [...]
