So I discovered the art of “Vintage by Crystal” at the SOWA Open Markets in Boston this past Sunday.

Branch Handmade has clothing, pillowcases and towels screenprinted with fantastic, vintage stock photo inspired graphics. The pillowcases do not come with the pillows inside- which I actually consider a positive since it is harder to find cute cases than it is covered pillows.
Made By Michelle Brusegaard (MBMB) has hand screenprinted stationary, clothing, towels and fabric napkins. The designs share a theme of nature inspired styling and subdued but eye catching colors.
It has always been one of my dreams to own a bakery. Standing in a kitchen- surrounded by flour, dough and fillings- makes me blissful. That explains the slight baking slant to this kitchen themed mix bag.
I don’t use coasters due to the fact that the tables that I have that don’t have glass tops (which are few) aren’t of a quality that needs to be preserved. But I do like coasters in theory, having enjoyed plenty of the little drink companions in restaurants and the apartments of better furnished friends. The categories on the Archie McPhee website tell you what kind of store it is. There is “Zombies & Monsters”, “Unicorns & Fairies”, “Pirates & Ninjas”, “Monkeys”, “Bacon, Meat and Sushi” and many more. Because I’m me, this post is going to focus on the first category. I’m not fond of many of the indie children clothing companies out there because the goods are rather expensive for something that’s only going to be worn for a relatively short period of time.
But decorations have a much larger shelf life. Fat Cat Designs 6 has lamp-shades and accessories designed to match popular children’s bedding.
There are indie retailer trends that I’ve come across time and again in different formats. There are zombies, robots, pirates, steampunk and…mustaches. Here are five ways to channel your inner Tom Selleck.
I’m really interested in imagery involving blueprints and architectural drawings lately, particularly when the plans are for something either impossible to build or mysterious in origin. There’s also something quite masculine about blueprints, which can make for a good gift if there’s someone macho in your life that’s difficult to buy for. The following tap into that imagery in different ways.
Bento is a Japanese home packed lunch that consists of fish/meat, rice and vegetables arranged in a visually appealing manner. Bento designs can be incredibly elaborate. There are numerous websites dedicated to people displaying their bento talents but this one in particular gained internet acclaim for the intricacy (and cuteness) of so many of the [...]
