I started a draft of a post about Bill Ayers shortly after Sarah Palin began using his name as a synonym for the terrorist euphemism the Republicans created circa 2001. But while the original tone of the piece was meant to be in defense of Ayers, it began to shift into a condemnation of Palin and her obvious ignorance to any facts about Ayers and the Weathermen/Weather Underground beyond the talking points handed to her. I scrapped it because Bill Ayers deserves better than to be associated with Sarah Palin.

I’m envious of Spencer Ackerman’s ability to write a thoughtful post even though he has a raging cold that isn’t responding to medication. I also have a cold and have barely managed to sit upright this week without it feeling like a major accomplishment. But onward I attempt to march.
Sarah Palin, so fond of tossing out the term terrorist when it comes near a “Bill Ayers”, was asked by Brian Williams whether abortion clinic bombers are terrorists. She expressed some hesitancy at using the term in that connotation. :

I’m overwhelmed with work and life stuff this week but I wanted to briefly discuss my thoughts about the final (thank FSM) debate of this election cycle. The polls are slanted in favor of Obama but McCain did surprisingly well for the first half of the debate. If he could’ve taken his ball and gone home at the halfway mark, he might have faired better in the polling.
Last night’s theme was the economy but everyone was waiting to see if- and how- McCain would confront Obama about Bill Ayers. He …

Tomorrow night’s debate (the actual topic of which is the economy) will be John McCain’s last chance to bring up Bill Ayers to Barack Obama’s face. Obama (and Joe Biden) have essentially encouraged McCain to do just that- knowing that it will give Obama a chance to calmly dismiss the accusations while McCain looks like he’s grasping at straws to distract people from his lack of economic skills.
The Ayers story hasn’t really taken hold outside of the lunatic fringe. I’m not sure why the Obama campaign is bothering with the …

Barack Obama and Joe Biden have essentially dared John McCain to make the Ayers accusations to Obama’s face. The next opportunity for McCain to do so would be the presidential debate focusing on the economy. Obama could win a debate on the economy by showing up and taking a nap on stage. John McCain doesn’t think John McCain’s strongpoint is the economy.
McCain can refrain from mentioning Ayers in the debate and look like he lacks the backbone and conviction to stand behind his claims or mention it and give Obama …

Blogger Interrupted has a video of McPalin supporters showing up to a rally in Strongsville, Ohio. Many volunteer to speak on camera which shows right away that they’re definitely not the brightest of the bunch. Though I’m not a fan of the forceful way the interview asks each person straight out if they think Obama’s a terrorist (these people are perfectly able of sinking their own ship), the video does portray the ignorance, fear and hatred that has become typical of Sarah Palin events.
Palin apparently didn’t mention Ayers during her …

I’ve spent the better part of today trying to start a post about the audience behavior at some Sarah Palin rallies in Florida but my brain keeps shutting down at the vile information I’m forcing it to process. The McPalin ticket dusted off the Bill Ayers story (which was already debunked when it came up during the primaries) to market the “Obama is a terrorist/Muslim/different than you” meme that carries well among uninformed voters who get their news from the National Enquirer.
They are purposefully stoking the flames of fires fueled …
