But I do like coasters in theory, having enjoyed plenty of the little drink companions in restaurants and the apartments of better furnished friends. And the coasters from Little Coaster Gnome are so cute I may buy a set and pop them in a frame as an art piece.  

Each 4.25″ x 4.25″ coaster is made from tiles and decorative papers, then double sealed with a waterproof varnish to prevent the drink from winning the moisture battle. 

The shop also has packs of really cool papers (the crafty/wrapping sort, not the rolling sort).

Yes, I am dedicated an entire post to coasters. No, I am not obsessively neat. I have actually never owned tables that were worthy of protection (the last coffee table had the initials of my roommate’s brother carved into the side) but since nearly every store that sells home goods has coasters, I assume there is a market.

12fifteen has hand letterpressed coasters (done on heavy coaster stock) sold in packs of 8 for $12.00. My favorite designs:
